The Cartridge

Seems every rifle book and reloading manual has something to say about the Hornet, and magazines usually touch on it in at least one issue per year.

If you're like me, you read everything you can get your hands on about the little cartridge. A lot of the articles seem repetitive, but usually you can pick up something useful.

Facts and Figures
Necked down from the original 25-20 Single Shot, Reuben Harwood in 1894, developed the first loading of what would eventually become today's Hornet.

It was introduced in smokeless powder in 1930 by Winchester. Shortly thereafter, Savage and Winchester introduced bolt guns for the cartridge.

Incomplete, I'm sure, this is a list of MFG's that have or still are chambering the Hornet.

Every gun show holds at least 1 Hornet of some sort, but you may have to look hard to find it. You might even have to wait for someone else to put it down before you get to look at it.
