My Tracks
The first track I built was completed in the fall of 2000.
Lap length 27 feet
Longest straight 7 feet
Fastest lap 3.29 seconds/179 MPH
Record setting car- Scalextric Penzoil Indy
This track was of my own design and an attempt not to takeover the basement. It was built from 2 4x8 sheets of 5/8's MDF board. The overpass was a real trick but workable. The radius on the corner nearest you on the left was too tight but still funcional. A pit area was added in the gray center section at the far end of the track. It housed 12 - 14 cars easily. Photocells and software were added, however, I was only able to get 1 lane to function properly.
The second track I built was completed in January of 2001.
Lap length 40 feet
Longest straight 12 feet
Fastest lap 4.364 seconds/199.98 MPH
Record setting car- Ninco Ferrari F1 310B
This track was of my own design and no attempt to conserve the basement was made. It was built from 3 4x8 sheets of 5/8's MDF board. The overpass was a real trick but workable. More care was taken in the design of this track to insure unobstructed view from any driving position. Scenery and timing software have been added but it is a work in progress. The open area in the notch at the right edge of the track is slowly filling in with mountains and a pit area. The computer monitor also resides in this area now.
Update, this track has been sold and a new one is in progress. 8/01
